Motorways in Hungary

Motorways in Hungary (Hungarian: Autópálya) are first-class high-speed highways in the country. As of December 2011 the total length of Hungarian motorways is around 1350 kilometers.

• M0* - ringroad around Budapest
• M1 - towards Northwestern Hungary – Győr, Tatabánya – and Austria West Autobahn
• M15* - connects M1 to Bratislava D2 motorway (Slovakia)
• M3 - towards Northeastern Hungary – Miskolc, Debrecen, Nyíregyháza - and Ukraine
• M30 - connects M3 to Miskolc
• M31 - from M0 Budapest to Gödöllő M3
• M35 - connects M3 to Debrecen
• M43 - from M5 Szeged to Makó
• M5 - towards Southeastern Hungary – Kecskemét, Szeged – and Serbia
• M6 - from M0 (Budapest) to Osijek A5 (Croatia) via Szekszárd
• M60 - from M6 to Pécs
• M7 - towards Croatia A4 (Croatia) and Lake Balaton
• M70 - connects M7 to Slovenia's motorway network - A5 motorway (Slovenia)
• M8 - planned, currently connects M8 Dunaújváros and Dunavecse, and another part between Balatonakarattya and Balatonfűzfő
• M86 - planned, currently connects Szombathely and Csorna
• M9* - planned, currently connects M6 with route 51 near Szekszárd

Between 2007 and 2009, the following motorways were completed: M7, connecting Croatia and Hungary, and M3, which connects Nyíregyháza and Debrecen to Budapest. In 2008 September, the eastern part of the M0 ringroad was completed as well. With further expansions, Hungary has now more than 1300 km of motorways.
