Armenian climate is markedly continental. Summers are dry and sunny, lasting from June to mid-September. The temperature fluctuates between 22° and 36°C/71-97°F, though it must be notated that the low humidity level makes the effects of high temperatures much more tolerable. Breezes originating in the mountains provide for a refreshingly cool evening. Springs are short, while the autumn is long and known for the vibrant and colorful foliage. Winters are quite cold and snowy, with a temperature range of between -10° and -5 °C/14-23 °F. Winter sports enthusiasts will find opportunity for skiing down the hills of Tsakhkadzor, located a half hour outside Yerevan.
